Additional Position Information:* Represents Location Pay for full-time appointees. Hours of work: Night Shift 11:45pm-8:00am. Days of week: Variable - must work 2 weekends per schedule. Brief Description of Duties: Responsible for the operations of the Staffing Office and the nursing units during the tour. Collaborates with the Nurse Manager, Director of Nursing and Deputy Director of Nursing to ensure the provision of quality patient care services on the clinical units. Demonstrates knowledge and competencies related to units being covered. Supervision of the nursing staff. Ensure the implementation of faculty policies and procedures. Ensure appropriate staffing patient ratios. Coordinate patient throughput with the Emergency Department, Admitting Department and Nursing Units. Knowledge of Navicare System. Facilitates patients? timely admissions/discharges. Evaluate and monitor staff to ensure safe, competent and quality nursing care. Communicate and collaborate effectively with patients, families and other members of the healthcare team. Ensure escalation to Attending physician as is necessary. Review patients? records for compliance with institution?s policies and procedures. Assist in developing action plans for correcting deficiencies based on regulatory agency findings. Work collaboratively and provide feedback to Nurse Managers in staff evaluations. Use ethical principles to guide decisions and actions consistent with UHB?s operating goals and objectives. Implement innovative strategies to foster team spirit and boost morale. Demonstrate good customer service and support the staff improving Press Ganey and HCHAPS scores.
Assess and identify staff learning needs. Promote, assist and facilitate educational and professional development for the staff. Assist in the development of programs, policies and procedures to support nursing evidence based practice and professionalism. Acts as a role model and mentor for staff. Demonstrates excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills. Enforce compliance with Federal, State and Regulatory agency standards such as TJC, DOH and CMS. Participate in Nursing and hospital committees. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE ABOVE POSITION DESCRIPTION All successful candidates must undergo various background checks, maintain credentials required for continued employment and adhere to the SUNY-DMC UHB Principles of Behavior.
Clinical Faculty and Allied Health professionals must receive and maintain Medical Board authorization. Qualifications: REQUIRED: NYS RN License, BSN, five (5) years of post-licensure experience which includes two (2) years in a management/supervisory role, three (3) years in Critical Care and/or Emergency Department Nursing. BLS to be completed within 3 months of employment. ACLS to be completed within 6 months of employment.
