Project Engineer, Packaging Innovation

Support the development and introduction of new orthopedic products and support changes to existing product packaging and labeling. Identify, design, develop and commercialize innovative packaging and labeling solutions for orthopedic implants and instruments.
• Investigate and commercialize new manufacturing technologies and materials for the packaging and labeling of orthopedic implants and instruments.
• Participate in multifunctional teams, led by a Project Manager and be responsible for defined project deliverables.
• Manage package/labeling Engineering Change Notices and Enterprise Change Requests from creation to final approval
• Implement updates to labeling, and package assembly and component drawings.
• As part of a cross-functional team, convert consumer feedback into innovative functional package designs.
• Develop and implement divisional procedures for package testing and package development, in compliance with AAMI/ISO, ANSI, and ASTM.
• Provide technical support to packaging operations to troubleshoot, investigate, and recommend solutions to package/labeling quality issues.
• Operate within Stryker's quality system to produce documentation such as process validations, test protocols, equipment qualifications, dynamic control plans, inspection plans and standard operating procedures.
• Work with Stryker Orthopedics suppliers to ensure they understand and comply with our Quality and NPDP system requirements
• Provide input to Capital Equipment Requests (CERs)

Qualifications/Work Experience

• 2 years of related experience in the Medical Device, or similarly regulated industries.
• Demonstrated experience in a range of packaging/labeling processes, e.g. design validation, operation of sealing equipment, label development and approval, etc.
• Demonstrated experience with a parametric CAD design package, with a preference for ProE. Demonstrated experience in medical device, pharmaceutical or consumer product package design.
• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Visio and Microsoft Office applications.
• Demonstrated interpersonal, communication and presentation skills. Must be comfortable presenting at department level meetings.
• Must be challenged by a team-based environment which places a high degree of emphasis on accountability for customer satisfaction, cost reduction and quality/GMP compliance.

Education and/or Special Training

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or related field of study.
