Mobility Systems Engineer (WLAN)
Responsibilities: - Participates in joint sales call with the sales team
- Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors
- Supports unit sales plan through pre-sales and/or post-sales technical consulting activities
- Provides technical support in sales presentations, product demonstrations, and installation and maintenance of company products to ensure that the system is functioning according to specifications
- Provides answers to customer inquiries concerning system software, applications and provides software development and consultation to prospective users
- Understands, develops and delivers systems/applications solutions to customers' business, information, technical and educational needs
- Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situation or data from which answers can be readily obtained
- Assignment may be at customer site, remote response center, corporate location or other site
- May build a mini-application, based on customer requirements, to demonstrate feasibility of the application, often requiring rapid prototyping
- Creates recommendations, and implements new methods, techniques, and/or procedures
- Coordinates completion of Network projects
- Typically viewed as a mentor or coach, but is not supervisory
- This position is NOT on sales compensation
Job Description * Analyze vendor product specifications and evaluates product performance as well as network operations
* Keep up-to-date on relevant competitive solutions, products and services.
* Perform technical presentations for customers, partners and prospects.
* Perform customer support activities for data communications equipment and networking system products.
* Travel required, up to 75%.
Qualifications:
* BS/BA (EE/CS) or degree equivalent
* Experience 5 years-related experience.* Cisco Controller based WLAN Network Design experience
* Minimum Cisco Certification - CCNA-Wireless (CCNP-Wireless, CCIE-Wireless, CWNA, CWSP and CWNE a plus)
* Network Planning, Implementation and Operational background is required.
* Pre-Sales experience highly desired.
* Specific customer experience with one or more WLAN vendors (Cisco, Motorola, Aruba, etc
i. Redesign and integrate with common networks and IT systems
• Indoor installations
• Outdoor AP installations (including mesh, lightning protection, calculated vs. real world signal propagation, types of mounting, et al.)
ii. Perform surveys (and potentially planning) with commercial-grade equipment/software
• Spectrum surveys
• Passive Surveys
• Active Surveys
• Outdoor surveys with GPS
• Multivendor capability (Airmagnet, Ekahau, freeware tools, vendor-specific tools {Aruba Outdoor Planner, Aruba Visual RF Planner, Cisco WCS}, potentially Motorola LANPlanner in the future)
iii. Able to perform RF IT analyses
• Airmagnet Laptop Analyzer
• Wireshark
iv. Willing and able to branch out to other WLAN vendors
* Internetworking Routing and Switching
i. LAN Switching: VLANs, LAG/PortChannel/EtherChannel/port bonding
ii. LAN Routing: subnets, LAN routing protocols (though doesn't come up often), Access control lists (ACLs) and firewalls
iii. WAN capabilities (for remote access and connectivity), VPN tunnels/dialing
iv. LAN hardware: fiber and copper cabling, media converters
* Network Operating Systems
i. Domain Name Server
ii. DHCP server
iii. RADIUS, TACACS , LDAP integration
iv. Certificate management
v. Client tools: PING, TRACERT, ARP, Wireshark, iPerf, et al.
* Knowledge and demonstrated operating experience in a minimum of 2 of the following area's of specialization:
* Enterprise WLAN Design
* IP and/or Legacy Telephony Systems and Applications
* Outdoor Wireless Mesh
* Security Systems & Applications
* IP Video Conferencing & Surveillance
* Storage Network Architectures and Applications
* Servers Operating Systems, Structures and Applications (MS, Novell, Unix, Citrix)
* Relevant experience in Network Management, Security, Planning, Traffic Engineering and Implementation.
* Ability to install applications on UNIX and NT operating systems.
* Experience with project management and resource tracking techniques.
* Knowledge of software and/or hardware, testing and implementation.
* Strong written and verbal communication, listening, and strong presentation skills.
* Well organized with attention to detail.
* Ability to comfortably interact with senior leadership, customer executives and frontline employees.
* Presents professional image of self and Company.
* Ability to work effectively and add value as a team member.
* Demonstrate technical knowledge and consultative skills.

Required Qualifications: - Working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access

Desired Qualifications: - Bachelors degree in Business or Engineering
- Five to seven years of engineering and/or sales experience
- Have knowledge of wring for Multi-Dwelling Units and Single Family Units
- Strong time management skills
- Project Management experience preferred
- Effective communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
